What BT Fibre Broadband is Available at Your Address?
BT provides Fibre and Full Fibre broadband over the Openreach network. While BT and Openreach are both part of the wider BT Group, Openreach operates separately and maintains the physical network used by BT and many other broadband providers.
The connection available at your address depends on the Openreach infrastructure serving your property. BT Fibre Essential, Fibre 1, and Fibre 2 use part-fibre technology, while BT Full Fibre runs fibre directly to the property and supports speeds up to 900 Mbps.

What Speeds Does BT Fibre Offer?
BT Fibre ranges from standard part fibre broadband to Full Fibre packages with download speeds of up to 900 Mbps. Where Full Fibre is available, the fibre optic connection runs directly to your property and removes the copper section used by BT’s older fibre services.
BT Full Fibre is not symmetrical, meaning upload speeds are lower than download speeds. This is one area where some newer full fibre networks have an advantage. CityFibre’s XGS-PON network supports symmetrical multi-gigabit services, while several alternative fibre networks also offer packages with matching or much faster upload speeds.
However, BT’s biggest advantage is availability. Its services run over the Openreach network, giving BT a much larger national footprint than most CityFibre-based providers and smaller altnets. The BT Full Fibre Checker above lets you see which speeds and packages are available at your address.

Is BT Fibre the same as Openreach?
No. BT is a broadband provider, while Openreach operates the physical network used to deliver BT Fibre services. Other providers, including Sky and TalkTalk, also use the Openreach network.
Does BT Full Fibre offer symmetrical speeds?
No. BT Full Fibre offers faster download and upload speeds than part fibre broadband, but its residential packages are asymmetrical, meaning download speeds are higher than upload speeds.
What is the fastest BT Full Fibre speed?
BT’s widely available Full Fibre packages offer download speeds of up to 900 Mbps. The maximum speed you can order depends on the Openreach infrastructure available at your address.
Can BT and CityFibre be available at the same address?
Yes. Some properties are covered by both Openreach and CityFibre. BT broadband is delivered over Openreach, while CityFibre is a separate full fibre network used by providers such as Vodafone, TalkTalk, and Zen in selected areas.
